Floating saunas have become somewhat of a craze across Scandinavia, and WYLD Sauna is planning to use its knowledge and experience of this growing trend to help it take off in the UK, starting with Liverpool.
WYLD Sauna was established by outdoor swimming and sauna enthusiasts who witnessed firsthand the extent to which the phenomenon has taken off across Scandinavia. Having received approval from Liverpool City Council, WYLD Sauna plans to offer customers a ‘traditional Nordic sauna experience’ with plans for a 30-person sauna, two ice baths, two cold waterfall showers, four heated outdoor showers, outdoor seating, changing rooms equipped with swimsuit dryers, hairdryers and lockers.
Traditional Finnish saunas are thought to have health benefits, including stress relief, improved blood circulation, improved immune function, and antioxidant properties. Princes Dock already has open-water swimming and canoeing, and this is considered a very welcome addition to an area with a growing number of people wanting to improve their health and well-being.
This floating pontoon is expected to be up and running by Autumn 2024 and will be installed in Liverpool Waters within the Princes Dock neighbourhood. The installation will compliment existing bars, cafes, hotels and restaurants and encourage further investment in Liverpool. Co-founder Jon Miller has revealed that there are plans for a floating café due to sauna goers desiring a bite to eat afterwards and stated that WYLD Sauna is “very keen to forge partnerships with local businesses such as gyms, hotels, clubs, tourist boards and wellness centres” indicating a desire to integrate into the local community.
